BUT- when the occasion came that we had to take a LONG train trip, I stopped at the local thrift store and found this series of books. His teacher was very engaging, so I didn't deter him and let him learn what he was being taught. I'm sure he was learning strategies and letter combinations and all and he claimed to like those books. I am small." Very simple, but I kept my comments to myself. They were books that read such as, "This is my Mom. In kindergarten, though he was bringing home a self selected assortment of books from the class library that couldn't have been more boring. He had worked on it during nap time at preschool- so he is a capable reader. I did NOT teach my kid to read and was surprised when he read GREEN EGGS and HAM to me one morning at aged three. I have been tothe feild museum in Chicogo and they have a dinosaur scelonton. I would recomend this book to people who like history and dinosaurs. I realy liked it! THere isn't one thing I didn't like about it. Overall, I thought this was a very nicely written book by Mary Pope Osborne, and would definitely recommend it to any younger reader who would like to read something adventurous and informative at the same time. I especially liked the one where Jack is hiding from the T-Rex, or when Annie sees the nest of dinosaur eggs. The illustrations are also nicely drawn by Sal Murdocca, and it gives the reader a visual aspect of how dinosaurs looked when Jack and Annie come face to face with them. In addition to this, the story is also interesting and fast paced, where the reader is put on the edge of his seat as we try to find out how Jack is going to get past the T-Rex and other dinosaurs towards the end of the book. Its provides a lot of interesting information about dinosaurs in general, such as the facts that Jack reads from the book, as well as the notes he takes down when he studies them. Review: I thought this book was a great start to the Magic Tree House series. Will they be able to escape the T-Rex and go back to their own time? But when they see a Tyrannosaurus Rex lurking around, they realize they have to escape from the dinosaur and go back to their own time! However, this becomes even harder than they think, when Jack realizes that he has left his backpack on the hill where the Tyrannosaurus Rex is next to, and he cannot go back without it. Annie tries to befriend a real Pteranodon, Triceratops and Anatosaurus, even though Jack tries to prevent her from doing so. After the tree-house stops spinning, the kids are shocked to look out and find themselves gone back in time. Jack wishes he could see a Pteranodon for real, and is shocked to suddenly find the tree-house spinning. In the tree-house, Jack looks at a book on dinosaurs while Annie looks at a book about castles. Annie climbs up and tells him there are books inside, so Jack also climbs up to examine the tree-house. Jack follows her, and sees that Annie has discovered a tree house in the middle of the woods. Annie pretends there are monsters chasing them and runs to the woods.
